Are You Anxious About The Unemployment Extension Bill?

11

The Senate is expected to be back to work by 12th and nearly 2 million jobless Americans are still on the brink of a much bigger collapse as each day passes.

Once the Senate is able to come up with a consensus regarding passing the bill and giving millions of Americans a quick relief from their agony, generally, it will add to the deficit but where else can these unemployed Americans turn if the bill gets filibustered…again.

If you are one of the many jobless Americans who had been cut-off of their unemployment benefits or is currently receiving unemployment compensation for the past 26 months, do you believe that both parties (Democrats and Republicans) will come into a decision that will benefit those with immediate needs like you?

I am scared to death. I have never been in such dire straits as I am right now. But, by tomorrow it will be worse. I am barely holding off the wolves at the door. Alliant energy had no sympathy and was not willing to extend my services unless i paid. With what? I gathered up all the spare change in our rented home and was finally able to pay off a $45 water bill. My sister gave us a care package of food items. I’ve never felt worse about myself in all my life. I have no self esteem left, I think of suicide often, I feel like a total loser and failure. I lost my unemployment after my 26 weeks were up abruptly with no warning. Ouch ouch ouch. No dignity and I’m humbled as far down as I could possibly be. I refuse to beg for help in the past, but that looks like that’s becoming a reality also. I’ve looked for work consistently, but I am 55 years old and most employers don’t really want to hire someone in my age group I presume. I am so so counting on the unemployment extension passing. And if it is retro-active, I sure won’t get rich quick, cause I owe everyone and the backpay won’t even cover it all now. I am praying every day, all day, that it will pass. If not, God help us all.

The Rebublocrats do not care about John and Jane Doe. Give up any hope you might have regarding help from the Government Whores and Pimps we have elected to represent us in the United States of America.

It’s just another excuse to screw the common Joe that’s out of work due to corporate greed and total unregulated government cronyism. Let’s face it,
the rich congressman in Washington can really get a rat’s ass about the current situation. But, some of them will soon find themselves unemployed too. They can’t take away our right to vote. Just ask – John McCain.

Remember the last time things were this bad it took world war 2 to bring things back to normal. We have gone to far down for things to ever come back to what they were millions of older people will probabley never find work i know i have tried for almost 2yrs.Im 55yrs old and have pretty much been told i will be last to hire if ever. The government is not the same as it was when people really cared about each other now its all about greed and the hel with who ever it hurts to get there.I dont know how many of you are believers if you are than you know the bible warns of times like this when mens hearts will wax cold.i have been following things happening in iran it looks like isreal and the us are planning some sort of strike against there nuk plants. They seem to think it will be over in a couple of days i think it could be the begining of the end.Has anyone noticed that 44 afgan solders brought here to learn english have disapeared or that theres been some talk of a 10 man attack on 10 us cities with suitcase nuks. Folks this country is going the way of all great nations that turn there back on god we are going to reap what we have sown. For myself i am more concerned about getting my house in order to be ready to meet the lord.they canonly kill me once i am not afraid of the future we already know who wins

This is the first time in my entire adult life (28 working years) that I have been unemployed. I went back to school several years ago, while I was still employed. I lost my job January 1 and I was told by the unemployment office not to worry, I would be able to collect unemployment until I graduate which is in two months. Well now there are no extentions and I am broke. I am two months away from graduating and I am about to lose what little I own. All of us whom are unemployed are terrified. Meanwhile, our congress, whom we pay, continues to collect a paycheck and have all the medical care they need for a lifetime. If they are so worried about the deficit then maybe they should be giving up their paycheck to help curb some spending.

Very anxious about the vote. I will have to loose my place and have to ask family to move in. Its very hard and depressing, we already have family whos in the same situation and there already making the calls to other family who have an extra room. I am blessed to still have a job but it still dosent pay for the rent and all the bills. My poor husband has submitted so many resumes and no call backs. We have two kids and this economy is horrible. I pray the extention will pass for all of us americans suffering right now.

@Di: I know this is not very consoling, but “many” in the same boat you’re in feel the same way!! Suicide, loss of hope, etc., etc..
Keep your chin up,,,,,better days are coming!! They can’t get much worse, right??
