7 Clever Ways to Make Money When Unemployment Checks Run Short
Finding ways to earn extra income that would help pay the bills goes a long way especially when you’re unemployed and your unemployment check could hardly support your needs or your family’s expenses despite several cut backs.
After some careful thought, there are just so many ways on how-to earn money and most of the time, we could be amazed that there are plenty of things that we hardly even thought about might eventually become our saving grace.
Talk about these 7 brilliant ways on how to make money when your unemployment benefits could not meet your needs.
1. Tidy up your closet. This may sound very practical as this task could also help you get rid of the clutter but what you may not discover is that there could be tons of vintage stuff sitting in your closet that you might just get money from by holding a garage sale. Vintage apparel is a fad and the older they are, the higher their value.
2. Start engaging on eBay thru selling. Sign-up as an eBay seller and make the most out of it. Remember as well to build your reputation as a good seller on eBay so you can encourage buyers to trust you.
3. Sell some personalized services. If you are good at something, try to make use of it and offer what you know in exchange of cash. Your knowledge in child care, care-giving, computers or auto repair could land you some part-time jobs or this could even become your starting point to get a new career going-on for yourself.
4. Sacrifice your luxuries. If you ever thought of having a car is a necessity during this time of crisis, then you better need some self-checking. Prioritize which things matter the most to you and act upon it, not against it.
5. Hold on to your faith. No matter what religion you have or organization you belong, there’s always going to be a support group that would help their church members so don’t shy on telling them your status. Their help could make a difference.
6. Research on some various online resources that pay you for your opinions and time with paid surveys being one of them or accepting freelance jobs.
7. Consult your state unemployment office for assistance. Nothing beats the informed, so while you can, have as much information needed because these will guide you on how-to apply for unemployment benefits, claim extended benefits, and even help others.
A time of unemployment is a rough time, not something to be rejoiced about but something to be used to discover oneself and one’s full potential. These days could be hard to come by but who knows, these might be the time where a new beginning will unfold.

You people are simply amazing. I see a waste of government spending in paying whoever came up with this silly stuff.
From personal recent experience you need to be careful, at least if you’re in New York State (I don’t know whether this is actually State or Federal policy). If you’re on Unemployment and they find out you’ve done ANYTHING other than look for work IN YOUR LOCAL AREA, they’ll take away your unemployment benefits, right then and FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
Things that result in this drastic consequence can be as innocent as volunteering (unpaid!) time to help your church build housing, or any kind of non-job-hunting-related vacation or travel, or even staying overnight with your Mom after a job-hunting thing before heading back home the next morning. They’re real hard-@$$es about it.
Numbers 3 and 6 on this list might also be a problem: if you earn more than, I think, $200 a week while on Unemployment, you are required to report it– and then your Unemployment is reduced by that amount so that your net income remains the same. What’s my motivation for working, again…?
Thats funny about the car thing, first not everybody leaves intown for me the nearst store of any kind is 12 miles away or you saying walk with a two year old when its over 100 degrees outside and how do you go about finding a new job without a car, sure we all can bum rides from family but seeings how they would be limted to when they can do it then that would make job searching go much longer and prolong the situation and also if you dont have reliable transportation um who is going to hire you i think no car would seriously limit somebody in bettering there situation you clearly have no clue what you are talking about bad advise… and by the way im not unemployed just think its crazy what u are suggesting cause I was once unemployed and a car was very much needed and luxury
